Jellico Church of God Mountain Assembly
224 N. Florence Ave. Jellico, TN 37762 ....(423) 784-9291 ....Reverend Ray Landes, Senior Pastor

What we believe...

  • In the verbal inspiration of the Bible...

  • In one God eternally existing in three persons, namely the Father, Son and Holy Ghost...

  • That Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived by the Holy Ghost, and born of the virgin Mary...

  • That He ascended to Heaven and is today at the right hand of the Father...

  • That all have sinned and come short of the glory of God and that repentance is commanded of God for all and necessary for forgiveness of sins...

  • That justification, regeneration, and the new birth are wrought by faith in the blood of Jesus Christ...

  • In sanctification subsequent to the new birth through faith in the blood of Jesus Christ...  Holiness to be God's standard of living for His people...

  • In the baptism of the Holy Ghost subsequent to a clean heart...

  • In speaking in other tongues as the Spirit give utterance and that it is the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit...

  • In water baptism by immersion...

  • That all who repent should be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit...

  • Divine healing is provided for all in the Atonement...

  • In the Lord's Supper and the washing of the saint's feet...

  • In the premillennial second coming of Jesus; first to resurrect the righteous dead and to catch away the living saints to Him in the air; second, to reign on earth a thousand years...

This church  stands for the whole Bible rightly divided. We believe the New Testament is the only rule for government and discipline.

Why do we...

Worship so joyfully?

Pentecostal worship is joyful and reflects both our appreciation to God and His Son and our love, joy, and peace found in our salvation.

Clap and lift our hands?

The act of clapping our hands is a form of praise which is mentioned frequently in the Scriptures. “Oh clap your hands all people; shout aloud unto God with the voice of triumph.” (Psalms 47:1) Lifting our hands is also a form of praise. More than fifty times in the Psalms the word translated “praise” means to extend the hands in praise.

Pray for the sick, anoint with oil, and lay on hands?

“Is any of you sick? You should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned he will be forgiven.” (James 5:14-15) “And these signs shall follow those who believe: In My Name they shall.. lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)

Have speaking with tongues and interpretations in the Church?

Tongues are a supernatural utterance by the Holy Spirit in a language not learned or understood by the speaker. The interpretation or meaning of the message is given by the Holy Spirit to encourage the believer. “But the Manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit all…to one diverse kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues.” (1 Corinthians 12:7, 10). “Wherefore brethren, forbid not the speaking in tongues. (1 Corinthians 14:39) “I would like everyone of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interrupts, so that the church may be edified.” (1 Corinthians 14:5)

Dance before the Lord?

“Then David danced before the Lord with all his might, and David was wearing a linen ephod.” (2 Samuel 6:14) “Let them praise His name with dance; let them sing praises to Him with timberland harp.” (Psalms 149:3) “A time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance.” (Ecclesiastics 3:4)
